Police said a man was threatening to harm himself at a mobile home park in the 1400 block of Remount Road.

North Charleston police have surrouned a home in the 1400 block of Remount Road.

Police said a man threatened to harm himself at his home in a mobile home park near 1 p.m.

Neighbors have been kept from their homes Monday afternoon as the police continue to negotiate with the man.

"I came home to this," resident Kathy Wright told Patch. Wright had been standing on the street for more than two hours, unable to get to her home. "This is crazy."

The standoff ended peacefully near 3:30 p.m.

"Our job is to protect and to serve," said Deputy Chief Reggie Burgess. "This guy needed help."
